Issued in 1885 as the second Customs Dragon Issue under the Qing Dynasty, this complete set of three features the iconic “Small Dragon” design in denominations of 1 candarin green, 3 candarin violet, and 5 candarin yellow. Printed by gravure with 12½ perforation and bearing various forms of the Yin-Yang watermark, these stamps represent a critical phase in the evolution of Chinese imperial postal identity. All three stamps are used, with visible cancellations and moderate signs of handling. The 5 candarin is notably scarce, with only 348,161 issued compared to 805,711 of the 3 candarin. Catalogued as Scott IM10–12, Michel CN-IM 4A–6Aa, Yvert et Tellier CN-IM 4(A)–6(A), Stanley Gibbons CN-IM 10–12, and China Stamp Society CN-IM 13–15. Despite some perforation wear and staining, the visual impact and historical relevance of this matched set remain strong. Estimate "$320 – 400"
