Regional French Post Offices in China 法國駐華地區郵局
The overprint "CHINE" "cent" "dollar" indicated that the stamp was valid for use at French post offices in China—such as those in Shanghai, Tientsin, and Canton—which operated alongside the Chinese postal system. Instead of issuing entirely new stamps, France initially used regular French stamps overprinted with "CHINE" or "CHINA" to designate their use for foreign mail in China during the 1860s–1870s.
